1. Who we are

Call & Block ("the App", "we", "our", or "us") is operated by Onur BAYSAK, an individual developer based in Türkiye. We are the data controller responsible for the personal data processed through the App and the related websites operated under the unknownscam.com domain.

2. Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, as well as the related country-specific websites (e.g. wemgehort.de, ukjentnummer.co.no, xtelefono.es, numarasorgula.com and others operated by us). It also describes the choices and rights you have regarding that data.

3. Information we collect

The App is designed to collect as little personal information as possible. The data we process is summarised in the table below and detailed in this section.

We do NOT collect:

• Your name, e-mail address, or phone number (unless you explicitly e-mail us).
• Your address book or contacts.
• Your call log or call history.
• Your precise location (GPS).
• Advertising identifiers (IDFA / Advertising ID).
• Health, financial, biometric, or other sensitive data.

4. Permissions used by the App and why

The App declares only the minimum Android/iOS permissions required to function:

• INTERNET — to communicate with our backend servers.
• ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — to verify whether the device is online before sending a request.
• POST_NOTIFICATIONS (Android 13+) — to display local reminders such as the weekly database-update prompt, only if you grant permission.
• Call Directory Extension / CallScreeningService — to label or block known spam numbers at the operating-system level. The list runs entirely on your device; we do not see incoming or outgoing calls.

We do not request access to your contacts, microphone, camera, calendar, SMS, or call log.

5. How we use information

We use the collected information to:

• Provide and maintain the App's core functionality (call blocking, number lookup, community reports).
• Improve user experience and fix bugs.
• Detect, prevent, and address abuse, spam, or fraudulent submissions.
• Comply with our legal obligations.

6. Legal basis (GDPR)

For users located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, our legal basis for processing is one of the following:

• Performance of a contract — to deliver the App's features that you actively use.
• Legitimate interests — to keep the community database accurate and to prevent abuse.
• Consent — for optional features such as notifications.

7. Data sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal data to third parties. We do not use third-party advertising SDKs or analytics SDKs that transmit personal identifiers off-device.

We may share information only in the following limited cases:

• With our hosting and infrastructure providers (Hostinger) under standard data-processing agreements, strictly to deliver the service.
• If required by law, court order, or to protect our legal rights.
• Anonymous, aggregated statistics that cannot be traced back to an individual.

8. Data retention

We retain submitted comments and ratings indefinitely, because they form a community database that protects other users from scam calls. You can request immediate deletion of your own submissions at any time (see section 10). Aggregated daily statistics are retained for analytics and never linked to a person.

9. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures (HTTPS in transit, server-side access control, regular database backups). However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Your rights and how to delete your data

You have the right to:

• Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
• Object to or restrict processing under GDPR.
• Lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

Automatic data deletion

We provide a self-service deletion page that wipes all comments and ratings associated with your Device ID immediately, without manual review: https://unknownscam.com/data-deletion. You can also delete individual comments inside the app via the trash icon next to your comment.

If you cannot locate your Device ID or need a different kind of request, you can also e-mail us at support@unknownscam.com and we will process your request within 30 days.

11. Children's privacy

Our App is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent local minimum age). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

12. International transfers

Our servers are hosted in the European Union. If you access the App from outside the EU, your data may be transferred to and processed there. We apply appropriate safeguards under GDPR Chapter V where applicable.

13. Third-party links

The App and our websites may contain links to third-party services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those services. We encourage you to read their privacy policies separately.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, by an in-app notice. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
